The purpose of the  Biblical Archaeology Fund is to promote the study of, and participation in, archaeological aspects of Biblical Studies at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, with an emphasis on field work in Israel/Palestine, Jordan and adjacent countries. As such it includes all areas related to the historical development of the Jewish and Christian Biblical traditions in the ancient Near East and ancient Mediterranean worlds.

The fund supports regular student and faculty field archaeological experience, various projects related to UNC Charlotte participation in archaeological excavations and research, as well as our own local collection of materials/artifacts related to research and teaching in this field.

Funds are managed within the Department of Religious Studies and are dispersed by a committee made up of the Chair of the department and the faculty in Christian Origins and Ancient Judaism. It is anticipated that this Fund will grow into a permanent endowment over the next few years.

Contributions are tax deductible and checks should be made to the UNC Charlotte Foundation, marked "Biblical Archaeology Fund."
