Juliane Hammer (Ph.D., Humboldt University of Berlin) joined the UNC Charlotte faculty in 2006 after teaching at Elon University for three years.She teaches courses in Islamic Studies, the Quran, and the liberal studies globalization course for the General Education Program. She is also heavily involved in the College of Arts and Sciences new program in Islamic Studies.  Her research interests include Muslims in America and Europe, women in Islam, transnational Sufi orders, and Palestinian diaspora communities.
