Writing Guidelines for
Religious Studies One of the major goals of the religious studies faculty is to help our majors and graduate students develop the art of analytical and critical writing—an art that is one of the hallmarks of being a liberally educated person. The department has developed this manual to give you some fundamental guidelines to follow as you develop your ability to write in a clear, concise, correct, and convincing style. The model examples of Turabian documentation in this manual provide the forms of documentations that you will use most frequently. For less frequently used formats, you will need to consult the Turabian Manual. The guidelines presented in this manual reflect writing standards and practices that are expected by all of the religious studies faculty members.
